Yellow Colour in the Trend

Every fortnight, I will have an article on colours on Artshine and on Thursday 24th January, I was able to talk about Yellow Colour and next Thursday I will have an article about Yellow in an hands on experience.

On the way back from Noumea to Sydney, I have met Sean Shawn Shaun Gow and we shared our love for ART. We also spoke about colours and he told me an anecdote about the colour white having a different meaning in Japan and China..

This reminded me that there is so much more to talk about yellow and that I would like to share more about it.. before the next blog on Artshine..

" There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, thanks to their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun."

Sharing food and love for art

Last Friday was: friend, food and art..

It is always the BEST to start your day with my dear friend Nancy from 11 Essex Studio and a nice brunch at Flat White cafe in Woollahra.

Time for us to catch up on what we have been doing and sharing our experience with our creativity and the love we have for colourful things ;-D

Then it was time to venture down to the gallery next to the cafe: Richard Martin Gallery where Mia Oatley is spoiling us with her amazing mixed media exhibition "Venus & Me"

Art on Surface Colour Wheel

Today was the day to create my first colour wheel on Illustrator for my next course.

Having a better understanding of colours before creating artwork or learning the vocabulary of colours before my Art on Surface course should be a must.

Here is the step by step procedure I have created with Illustrator.

The best is to do this on your computer to understand the process and then to create your own Colour Wheel using either Gouache or Acrylic paint.

Step 1 - Adding the primary colours on the Colour Wheel
Process Cyan, Process Yellow and Process Magenta

Step 2 - adding the 3 co-primaries colours on the Colour Wheel
Ultramarine Blue, Brillant Yellow and Scarlet

Step 3 - adding the 3 Secondary Colours
Mid Green, Mid Orange, Mid Purple

Step 4 - The Tertiary Colours
The tertiary colours are the third generation hues.
Each is formed by combining a primary and secondary hue.
Step 5 - Optimal range ORANGE
Brillant Yellow, Yellow-Orange, Mid-Orange, Red-Orange, Scarlet

Step 6 - Optimal range GREEN
Process Yellow, Yellow-Green, Mid-Green, Blue-Green, Process Cyan

Step 7 - Optimal PURPLE
Process Magenta, Red-Purple, Mid-Purple, Blue-Purple, Ultramarine Blue

Step 8 - Analagous colours from Brillant Yellow to Scarlet
Analagous colours are any colours lying next to each other on the colour wheel.

Brillant Yellow, Yellow-Orange, Mid-Orange, Red-Orange, Scarlet

Step 9 - Analagous colours from Process Yellow to Process Cyan
Process Yellow, Yellow-Green, Mid-Green, Blue-Green, Process Cyan
Step 10 - Analagous colours from Magenta to Ultramarine Blue

Process Magenta, Red-Purple, Mid-Purple, Blue-Purple, Ultramarine Blue
Step 11 - Adding the complementary colours to the Colour Wheel
